Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of Kronicler at kronicler.app and app.kronicler.app. Kronicler is an independent product. By using it, you're agreeing to what's below.

Written plainly on purpose. If something here seems unfair, email hello@kronicler.app — we'd rather fix it than hide it in a clause.

1 · What Kronicler is

A tool for writing long fiction and keeping track of what changes in it. You write in it, you mark what changes, and it keeps a dated record of those changes.

It is early software. Features will change, some will be removed, and there will be bugs. If something breaks in a way that costs you work, tell us — we take that seriously.

2 · Your account

You need an email address, or a Google account, to create one. You can also use Kronicler as a guest without an account.

You're responsible for keeping access to your own email secure, since that's how sign-in works. If you think someone else has access to your account, email us.

One person per account. You may not share credentials.

You must be 16 or older.

3 · Your writing stays yours

You own everything you write in Kronicler. Your manuscript, your characters, your world, your notes. We claim no ownership, no licence to publish, and no right to use your work for anything.

You confirm you have the right to store what you write here — that it's yours, or that you're allowed to use it.

The only permission you give us is the narrow technical one required to run the product: to store your content, back it up, and display it back to you. That's it. It ends when you delete your account.

Your work is never used to train anything, never sent to an AI, and never read by us or anyone else. This is a term of this agreement, not just a policy — if it were ever untrue, that would be a breach of these terms.

The only exception is content you deliberately hand over: a chapter you attach to a bug report, or something you ask us to look at for support. Both require you to act first, and neither happens automatically.

4 · Export

You can export everything you've written, at any time, on any plan, without asking. This is a permanent commitment and applies regardless of what pricing looks like in future.

If your account is closed — by you or by us — you'll be given a reasonable opportunity to export before anything is deleted, unless the closure is because of §5.

5 · What you can't do

  • Use Kronicler to store or distribute anything illegal
  • Attack, overload, or attempt to break into the service
  • Resell access or share one account across multiple people
  • Scrape or bulk-extract other people's data
  • Use it in a way that damages other users' experience

If you do any of these, we may suspend or close your account. For anything short of the serious cases, we'll contact you first.

6 · Cost

Kronicler is currently free to use.

Paid plans may be introduced later. If that happens:

  • Anything you can do for free today, you will still be able to do for free — new pricing applies to new capability, not to taking things away
  • Export is never gated, on any plan, at any size
  • You'll be told before anything changes, with enough notice to decide

7 · Availability

We'll do our best to keep Kronicler running, but we can't promise it will always be available. It's early, independent software. There will be downtime, and there is no uptime guarantee.

If Kronicler is ever going to shut down permanently, you'll get at least 60 days' notice and your export will keep working throughout.

8 · Ending it

You can delete your account at any time, from settings. It's permanent.

We can close an account that breaches §5, or that has been inactive for a very long time — and in the inactivity case, only after emailing you first and giving you a chance to keep it.

9 · Liability

Kronicler is provided as-is. We can't guarantee it will be free of bugs, that it will never lose data, or that it will meet every expectation you have of it.

Keep your own backups. The export feature exists partly for this reason. It's good practice for any writing tool, including this one.

To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for lost work, lost profits, or indirect losses. Where liability can't be excluded, it's limited to what you've paid for Kronicler in the previous twelve months — which, on a free account, is nothing.

Nothing here limits liability for anything that can't lawfully be limited.

10 · Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a way that materially affects you, we'll email you before it takes effect. Continuing to use Kronicler after that means you accept the new terms. If you don't, you can export everything and close your account.

11 · Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India.

If you're a consumer in the EU or UK, this doesn't take away rights you have under your own local consumer law.
